The prototypes were used to haul livestock. They featured steel "Z" bracing with wooden slats, and were seen in steam consists and lasted until the early 70's. Our car is modeled after the Union Pacific S-40-10 stock car. These were rebuilt from 1916-era automobile box cars into both single- and double-deck cars, and were the first to wear the famous UP armour-yellow-and-silver paint scheme.
These cars feature injection molded ABS bodies and detail parts with 24 metal grab irons. Cars will come appropriately with either Andrews or AAR type "Y" trucks (PRR 2D-F8) 50 ton trucks. The trucks will cast in Zamac, have Celcon® bearings and be fully sprung and equalized. The stock cars will feature separate placards for the lettering. Cars are ready to run equipped with American Flyer® compatible metal wheels and couplers and also supplied with code 110 scale wheelsets and the mounting holes for the KD 802 couplers.
