Showcaseline 2-8-0 Consolidation with QSI Revolution U decoder

The QSI Revolution U decoder is an excellent match for the SHS 2-8-0 Consolidation Steam Locomotive:

  1. 1.3 Amp constant current.
  2. Good low speed performance (BEMF)
  3. Extremely customizable!

The QSI Revolution U uses a different strategy for functions. The default is that lights are automatic. This leaves more functions available for controlling sound. This can be modified by setting CVs if desired.

SHS is now installing QSI as an option (the alternative is the SoundTraxx Tsunami) in new 2-8-0s when DCC sound is required. We are also installing QSI decoders into customer's 2-8-0s as a service. The 2-8-0 DCC Interface board is required to install either the Tsunami or the QSI decoders. The locomotive Roadnumber is programmed as the DCC address.

The standard setup as shipped from SHS when installed in a 2-8-0 is:

QSI Revolution Tips:

The QSI Revolution will speak the value of any CV when in operation mode (Programming on the Main - POM) programming. To read back the value of any CV, program its CV number into CV 64.

QSI uses some indexed CVs. To program or read back these CVs, program the primary index into CV 49, and the secondary index (if there is one into CV 50. Then to read back the CV, program the CV number into CV 64. To change the CV, program the CV.
Example: Program CV 53.14.0 to 137:

1. Set CV 49 to 14 (primary index)
2. Set CV 50 to 0 (secondary index)
3. To speak current value, set CV 64 to 53
4. To set 53.14.0 to 137, program CV 53 to 137.
