SoundTraxx DCC Sound Decoders

SoundTraxx makes an absolutely excellent sound decoder, the Tsunami. We currently supply Tsunami decoders in our 2-8-0 Consolidation steam locomotive, and in our SW-8, SW-9, and NW-2 switchers.

These decoders are also available as a separate purchase item, as an easy upgrade to those locomotives which were sold without DCC sound.

Tsunami and Interface Board for SHS 2-8-0 Consolidation

The 2-8-0 uses 5v lighting, and has a smoke unit and a cam for sychronising the smoke and chuff. It requires an interface board to supply the required regulated 5v DC supply for the lights and smoke unit. The interface board plugs into the socket in the tender, and the Tsunami connects to the interface board by means of two cables. The Tsunami that we supply has custom defaults burned into the decoder by SoundTraxx to match the requirements of the 2-8-0. The Tsunami sound decoder and interface board are sold as a unit for $179.95.
