S Helper Service series of two bay open top hoppers continues with a 55 ton Offset Hopper. Our hopper is modeled after New York Central lots 479-H, 533-H, 534-H, 535-H & 539-H and built at the East Rochester, NY shops from 1924 to 1927. The inside length was 30' 6" with 2055 cu. ft capacity. Over 2000 cars were built for the MCRR, CCC&StL, P&E and NYC. These are ready to run models featuring injection molded rugged ABS plastic bodies (showing the interior ribs) and detail parts with a diecast Zamac centersill, opening hopper doors, music wire drop hand grabs, AB brakes with Ajax brake wheel and housing. The trucks are the 50 ton AAR type "Y"s in die cast metal, with Celcon® bearings, blackened metal hirail wheels and AF compatible operating couplers. Each car also comes with 4 code110 NMRA RP-25 metal wheelsets and the mounting holes for the KD #802 couplers, making the change over to scale an easy and swift operation.
The first run roadnames include: Central Railroad of New Jersey - black body with white lettering, Lehigh & New England - black body with white lettering and red/white "fried egg" logo, Detroit & Mackinac - black car with white logo and lettering, Great Northern, b.c. red with white lettering and white/black logo, Delaware Lackawana & Western, black with white lettering, Green Bay & Western - yellow body with red/white logo and black lettering, Illinois Central, red with white lettering, NYC b.c. Red with white lettering and and black background logo, Peabody, yellow with green lettering and black/red logo and Toledo, Peoria & Western - black body with white/red logo and white lettering, Undecorated - black or red oxide body, single cars only. All roadnames (unless noted) are available as three car sets and single cars, all with different numbers.
