The first steam locomotive entering the Showcase Line is modeled after the Baltimore and Ohio Class E-27 2-8-0. The originals were built in 1905 by the Richmond Locomotive Works, later part of the American Locomotive Company (ALCO). This loco featured a straight boiler and 62" drivers.
The first shipment of AF compatible LocoMatic™ equipped 2-8-0s are in, and available for immediate shipment. The DC and Code 110 versions will be available early in 2006.

Like all Showcase Line locomotives, it is ready-to-run and operate right out of the box. It comes with EITHER American Flyer compatible wheels or with code 110 RP-25 wheels.

The general configuration is with AC/DC sound, lighting and speed control with the LocoMatic™ 10-button controller (available for $59.95). Optionally the locomotives will be available for DC operation without sound, or with Digital Command Control (DCC) either with or without sound.

Standard features include: die-cast zamac boiler and cab, ABS plastic, injection molded tender body, metal hand grabs and hand rails, prototypical road and switcher pilots included, lost wax coupler lift rings, brass and cast boiler details, full cab interior with back head detail. 2-man hand-painted crew, opening cab windows, opening roof hatches, directional lighting control, illuminated front and rear headlights, most roadnames with two numbers, precision 5-pole, dc can motor, smoke unit with separate motor. Optional sound system with exhaust, whistle, bell.

In addition, each engine can be ordered with code 110 NMRA RP-25 metal wheelsets and our #0588 KD style couplers, or with American Flyer compatible wheelsets and coupler.
The first run roadnames include: B&O, C&NW, ERIE, Maine Central, NYC, Santa Fe, Southern (green with imt. gold stripes and let.), Union Pacific, Western Maryland & Unlettered - painted black.
The retail price for our Ready to Run 2-8-0 steam loco is $449.95 for DC no sound and $599.95 for AC/DC LocoMatic Sound or DCC Sound.
