Introduced in the early 40's, the 53'6" flat car became the standard in the 50's and 60's. Our GSC (General Steel Casting Co.) flat was owned by the PRR, Reading, Union Pacific, GM&O and many others during the steam era.

  • Vertical brake shaft with Equipco brake wheel
  • First run roadnames for the standard flat car are: Unlettered/roller bearing (B.C. RED), Bangor and Aroostook (black with white lettering), Burlington Northern/#2 (GREEN w/ white lettering), CNW (freight car red with white lettering), CB&Q (CHINESE RED) w/ white lettering), Illinois Central (ORANGE w/ black lettering), Nickel Plate Road(black with white lettering), New Haven (black with white lettering, available in 2 numbers), New York Central (black with white lettering, available in 2 numbers), Pennsylvania (freight car red with white lettering, available in 2 numbers), Rock Island (freight car red with white lettering, available in 2 numbers), Seaboard (freight car red with white lettering)Union Pacific (ARMOUR YELLOW w/ red lettering) and Union Pacific#2 (freight car red with white lettering). Sold out roadnames are BN#1, D&RGW, Southern, UP#1 and Wabash. These might still be available from our hobby shops.
