S-Trax, Our 155# Rail "S" Gauge Track System

Trackwork, Key to a Railroad

Beautiful trackwork is a critical step to having a beautiful railroad. And no railroad can operate well with inferior track. Many of our customers started with, and still operate, layouts based on American Flyer track. We also have customers who hand-lay their track, including building custom switches. Some of our AF customers would like new, already ballasted sectional track to add to their layouts. Some would like to include flexible track in a portion of their layout, while still keeping AF track in other areas. Many customers run AF or AF-compatible wheelsets, while others use code 110 "scale" wheelsets. Some even run a mix of both.

The goal of the S-Trax system is to allow maximum flexibility to mix and match components, allowing you to create and grow your railroad the way you want it to be.

All rail is code 131, which matches PRR mainline 155 lb. rail. This size was chosen because it cooresponds to a size of rail used on real railroads, yet still allows operation of AF and AF-compatible wheels.

Sectional track has built-in ballast, and comes in multiple lengths and radii. Matching switches, bumpers, uncouplers and other accessories are available, with more coming.

Flex Track has matching ties and rail. Roadbed is available to match the height of the sectional track if required.

Sectional Track

Ballasted Right-O-Way. For That Last Touch of Realism

Our new S-Trax System puts it all together with integrated components that allow mechanical and electrical connection at the same time. With the decorated ballasted roadbed, Celcon® wood grain ties and weathered nickel silver rail, it is designed to operate with all A.C. Gilbert S Scale American Flyer trains. Our #3 remote control and manual switches, 15", 10", and 5" straight and 20", 25" and 30" radius curved tracks are now available with more components to follow as the tooling is completed. Our #00393 AF track adapter will allow the use of AF track parts (switches, crossing, uncoupler, etc.) with our track system.

155# Nickel-silver rail, Individual Celcon® ties with molded wood grain, PRR Mainline Roadbed and tie spacing ABS decorated ballasted roadbed. Multiple radius curved track with AF compatible 5" centers.

Our 20" radius, 30 degree section is the same radius as the American Flyer curved track. The straight sections are 5", 10" and 15" in length. Our track system also includes rail joiners and insulated rail joiners, and feeder wires with spade clips, a special track adapter that will join our track to American Flyer® track. A Starter Track Set is offered with twelve 20" curved radius sections and four 10" straight sections and 2 feeder wires. Our 40" flex track is also now available. At this time we custom cut 15 degree sections (half track) of all three radius, and 5" straight sections. Other items like a bumper, uncoupler, accessory activation are recently available, with more items such as a #5 switch, a 90 degree crossing, a grade crossing, and a signal system are still in the design stages.

Flex Track

Utimate flexibility and Realism

Based upon the same PRR specifications as the sectional track, S-Trax offer 40" sections of highly flexible, weathered, nickel silver track. Flex Track lets you design layouts with any radii curves. Once laid and ballasted, you have great looking scale trackage, yet still compatible with American Flyer wheels.

S scale Homabed roadbed is available for use with our Flex Track. There is a version specifically designed to match the rail height and bevel of our sectional track and also American Flyer track with AF rubber roadbed.

If you don't need to match sectional track, S scale Homabed is also available in a thinner size at a lower cost. This also comes in a 60 degree bevel.
