Next Shipment - We just got word that the next run of reefers and rebuilt boxcars have a booking for the APL Tourmaline V.060E container ship expect to leave Hong Kong on July 5th and arrive in the Port of New York on July 30th.
On June 14, 2010 Ivan Ting, the CEO of Kader Industries, parent company of our builder Sanda Kan, sent e-mail to 60 of its 80 clients. Ivan's e-mail stated that Sanda Kan was reorganizing its operations and would be unable to accept new projects or production runs from those 60 clients. S Helper Service along with fellow S manufacturers American Models, American S Gauge and S Scale America from Des Plaines Hobbies received this e-mail. We know that this will cause an interruption of new product development and delivery of new production runs of existing products for the S market. This delay will vary from a few months for some companies to over a year for others.
While this announcement caught us by surprise, we immediately began to investigate several possible avenues to continue to provide the Showcase Line® and S-Trax® products that your have come to rely upon. This will take time, but we anticipate being able to announce a solution soon. In the meantime, we have an inventory of most Showcase Line and S-Trax products. Check this web site, or call 732-441-0555 for a complete listing of currently available locomotives, rolling stock, track and accessories.
The first run of the Bethlehem Steel fishbelly hopper cars will be completed by Sanda Kan and should be received early in 2011.
We want to express our gratitude to all of the S community for its support in the past and its continuing support now. We are doing everything possible to support the S community in return. We are hoping for a return to normalcy in the not too distant future.
On last Wednesday, our new shipment of freight cars arrived. This included composite and USRA two bay open top hoppers. For the USRA Hoppers we are offering B&O (large letter scheme), Reading (new numbers) and another run of Waddells (I think this will be the 4th run). For the Composite Hoppers, new numbers for the AT&SF, C&O, CB&Q, PRR and LV. Advance orders have been shipped. If you haven't already ordered your cars (some are already in short supply), you can do so: Composite Hoppers or USRA Hoppers. So far the best sellers are the Waddell (no surprise here) and the new B&O scheme. For the composite, we are selling a surprising number of AT&SF.
